Well, meet ROVER, a sweet 4 year old, black boy. ROVER is quite a chunkster, not too tall, but a gentle walker. He is a bit of a sensitive soul, a little cautious at times and would love a kind adopter to help him navigate that big old wide world! He is great to walk in the woods, and is sociable with the other hounds and walkers at kennels.
ROVER went to the local park for his initial assessment and this is how he got on. He needed to be lifted into car both there and back. At the start of the walk, ROVER was fine, but got a bit spooked by two cyclists who appeared unexpectedly in front of him. Who wouldn’t!
He calmed down as he walked on and the path was quiet. When he came up behind a man walking his terrier, ROVER’s first instinct was to go back the way he came. However, the man said his dog would just stop and ROVER could pass. So he did, and made no acknowledgement of the wee dog.
ROVER got onto the decking part of the path and was fine with the change underfoot. He then walked along behind a family and their dog, no problem. Stepping out into the main park was a bit too much for ROVER, bless him. He circled around his handler who had stopped to let him try and take it all in.
A couple with a soft-coated wheaten terrier stopped to chat. ROVER calmed down as he enjoyed interacting with the people. He mostly ignored the dog, even when it sniffed his rear (!) and when it barked. ROVER is most definitely a people dog!!
ROVER was surprisingly good with traffic and only a loud motorbike made him hesitate.
Once ROVER has settled into his forever home with a family who will give him time and gentle, positive experiences to let him get used to his new life, this gorgeous, people-loving lad will make a wonderful lifelong companion.
